CAP-XX Production Facility

A new high-tech production facility manufacturing electronic components required an up-to-date fire sprinkler system. Making use of the latest technology in sealed flush sprinklers, our design documentation was provided to the contractor directly to install and commission a system fit for the super clean environment.

QT Hotel Canberra

DesignFire recently completed the full design for the upgrade and replacement of the existing fire detection and occupant warning system at the QT Hotel in Canberra. Provided with some challenges for access and bringing the systems up to current standards we produced detailed designs which were suitable for contractors to work with easily.

VenuesWest

At the request of VenuesWest, DesignFire has completed a number of projects which include EWIS modifications to WA Athletics Stadium, Detection and Warning system design and documentation package for upgrade works to Champion Lakes Regatta Facility and Fire Safety and Services Audit for HBF Arena Joondalup.

Government of Western Australia
Department of Education

DesignFire at the request of several school facilities have been engaged and directed to complete comprehensive site audits on fire safety and services. These audits were completed as requested with a focus on hydrant supply and provisions.
This has led to the modification and upgrade in several circumstances to ensure that these sites are provided with the necessary provisions for DFES to utilise should the conditions arise.

Government of Western Australia
Department of Health

Provision of design documentation and technical specification for upgrade works to occur in replacement of Emergency Warning and Intercom System throughout all 4 Buildings forming part of this site.
DesignFire also provided Construction Phase support for this project throughout the delivery phase. Project was delivered on time and budget.

Royal Perth Hospital

Royal Perth Hospital has appointed DesignFire to provide detailed design and documents for the provision of a gaseous extinguishing system in the computer rooms. A complex fire detection system initiates the total flooding FM200 gas. Pre-Action Fire sprinkler system design to MRI rooms and various other installations including the newly refurbished Ward 7.

Coles Supermarkets

Coles Supermarkets are continually upgrading and refreshing the looks of supermarkets throughout Western Australia and Australia. DesignFire have played a key role in many of these store refurbishments with being responsible for existing condition audit reports, design documentation and technical support throughout the processes in relation to fire sprinklers, detection, and warning services.
Recent store audits and or upgrades include Warwick, East Victoria Park, Warnbro, Booragoon, Inglewood, Carousel, Broome, Kununurra, and Karratha to name a few.
DesignFire has provided similar support for a number of outlets for the LiquorLand arm of Coles Brands.

SINWA

A large isolated refrigerated warehouse which incorporates a wet sprinkler high hazard system in the main warehouse with racked storage and dry systems installed in the freezer. Fire detection is provided in the office areas. The water supply has been upgraded to include new water tank and suitable fire booster pumps.

Curtin University WA

Curtin is the largest University in Western Australia. DesignFire provide expertise for fire detection and EWIS systems. New, upgrades, maintenance or replacements. We enjoy an excellent relationship with a forward thinking establishment. We are proud to say we are the preferred fire services consultant. Provision of services include new full detailed design documents and drawings, to complex reporting and specifications. Recent projects completed include; Erica Underwood Student accommodation, Kurrajong Village, Guild House and North Plant building..
We have been involved with Curtin University for several years now and continue to support Curtin University on a number of current projects throughout campus.

Bluewater power station Collie WA

Provision of certifying documents. The client required the fire protection systems to be certified during construction. DesignFire stepped in to inspect, witness testing and provide relevant certification to Australian NFPA and FM standards.

Prominent Hill – Oxiana S.A.

The new mine site constructed in South Australia. DesignFire assisted with design of fire hydrants, sprinklers, detection and underground mains network systems. Networked systems via fibre optic cabling. Fire pumps fed from a dam provide the site fire water. The entire package of disciplines expected in any modern copper mine.

Perth Airport

DesignFire provide ongoing support and standard technical specifications for upgraded airport buildings. Provision of new fire plans and design drawings for current terminal buildings.

Murdoch University

DesignFire provide expertise for new and upgraded fire detection and EWIS systems. DesignFire also produces emergency evacuation plans and documentation support for numerous other buildings throughout the campus. Fire compartmentation review and audits are also included.

Woodside Heliport

Review and reporting on current fire protection deluge systems. Design documentation and specifications for new fire protection systems at Karratha airport.

Haynes Shopping Centre

DesignFire were involved in the design of the fire sprinklers, combined booster pumps and hydrant tanks for the new Haynes Shopping Centre in Armadale.

Johnsons Hill Tunnel NZ

With two bored tubes, each 345m long its certainly the smallest of the tunnels we’ve worked on. However we also have to consider the seismic activity in the region so any design of piping, valves or support systems must take account of possible earthquakes. Fibre optic heat detection operates the deluge sprinkler systems.

Birla Nifty Mine Site WA

DesignFire provided design and support for the complete fire services at the Birla Nifty mine site. Our design included a new underground hydrant main, hose reels, extinguishers and fire pumps. Switch rooms and support buildings also included fire detection and alarm systems networked via the site fibre communications systems.

BP Petroleum Refinery Kwinana WA

Perhaps one of the most difficult, hazardous, and for fire professionals, the most interesting sites, DesignFire have been involved in various projects throughout the years at the Kwinana site. In conjunction with Worley and others we have been designing fire protection systems for many process plants and applications.
Comprehensive fire detection measures involve the most intelligent and reliable systems. Gas detection is strategically located to detect early presence of a possible material escape. Strategically placed perimeter or point detection is selected to suit the process and geography. Numerous gas types including Hydogen Sulphide, Hydrogen, Methane present various challenges in detection.
Infra red Flame detection is a another way to monitor the plant area. Located to provide general protection in the majority of the process plants, a quick response is assured should an emergency event occur.
Signals are repeated via the plant DCS to the duty operators in the control room, who can initiate emergency response crews, activate deluge systems, fire water monitors and control the plant processes.
Pressure vessels, process plants and the like are provided with Deluge systems, either manual or automatic systems to suit the risk. fire water monitors have also been provided.

Midland Shopping Development
(Super A mart)

DesignFire produced detailed design for the fire sprinkler systems to the main sales floor and the high pile storage warehouse. Fire water pumps and tanks were also included in the design.

KLEENHEAT GAS KWINANA

DesignFire was engaged to provide a comprehensive and detailed design for the future upgrade of the site fire water distribution network which feeds a number of services including fire monitors, foam systems, deluge systems and hydrants. We have recently completed detailed design of a new deluge system, protecting two LPG buffer pressure vessels.

WATER CORPORATION

DesignFire has enjoyed a key working relationship with The Water Corporation of WA and have provided professional services for the upgrade to Subiaco, Kwinana and Beenyup site detection and warning systems.
We continue to have a great ongoing relationship with The Water Corporation and have been assisting them with some minor works to assets within the Perth Metro region.

FREMANTLE HOSPITAL

DesignFire conducted a full site wide audit for Fremantle Hospital. This audit identified key information that the hospital board and engineering department could utilise in the planning of key site upgrades moving forward.

BUILDING MANAGEMENT & WORKS

DesignFire has enjoyed a professional and ongoing relationship with the Western Australian Government Department – Building Management and Works (BMW). We have provided our services to a number of projects managed by BMW ranging all aspects of fire services.
We have recently completed site audits to a number of key assets for Department of Transport and this led to the renewal of fire detection systems within some key sites.

PINJARRA SHOPPING CENTRE

DesignFire was engaged once more by the management of Pinjarra Shopping Centre after the successful completion of stage 1.
During Stage 2 DesignFire was involved with the expansion to the centre and the provision of sprinklers to the new underground carpark, centre expansion and refurbishment of Coles.

PERTH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

DesignFire was engaged late in the final stages of the Perth Children’s Hospital project in order to provide professional technical support and DFES liaison for the fire detection and emergency warning systems in order to help on site contractors bring the project to completion.

WESTGOLD MINESITE

DesignFire was engaged to provide detailed design drawings for mine site and camp wide hydrant systems and sprinkler system to key tunnel operations. These works were flagged for the future upgrade to the site.
